What you will experience
We will meet in Venice and head towards Sant'Erasmo island together by water bus. Before starting the guided kayak tour, you will be informed about kayak manoeuvring techniques, safety and rules of navigation in the lagoon.
As we paddle our kayaks, we will reach several lagoon islands through the salt marshes and in the company of the wildlife in the lagoon. We will stop several times to admire the nature and some hidden spots you can reach only by kayak. I will share stories about the people still living on these islands and explain the history about each place we visit.
The main attraction we will visit together will be on Sant’Andrea island, which hosts a 16th-century fortress in the middle of the lagoon, a magnificent defensive infrastructure you can only reach by small private boats or kayaks. We will visit all these hidden gems that only locals know from a very special point of view, directly in contact with nature.
Kayaking in the lagoon also means to discover the intimate part of Venice, the most hidden and beautiful places, without any negative environmental impact. This kayak tour is easy to handle and not too tiring.
Who is your local guide?
Hi,hi! My name is Valerio. I spent half my life away from Venice: getting „germanised" in Bochum and Göttingen, enjoying the post-Olympic vibe in Turin, getting drunk in the worst bars in Moscow, following the silk road in Central Asia, clubbing in Berlin, and pretending to be a professional manager in a multinational corporation in Africa and Middle East.
All of this to realize that there is no place like home, especially if your home is Venice!
Now, as a licensed tour leader & nature and interpretive guide, I am ready to share my true love for the city, my passion for sustainable tourism, and a few tips about the Venice I like as a local.
