Food & drinks: Food Markets

Lau Pa Sat street food experience

Why Keith recommends this food market

In the early years, street hawkers ply the roads of Singapore and set up stalls by the roadsides selling local food. These street hawkers have now been relocated to hawker/food centres. But, at Lau Pa Sat market, one can still experience the roadside dinning experience of old. Within this 200-year-old Victorian-style market, one can find many delicious local food like satay, sambal stingray, hokkien mee. A place frequented by locals and tourists alike.

Good to know

The best time to visit is dinner time as one of the roads will be closed to traffic and tables/chairs set up. Grab one of the outdoor tables for an al fresco experience. Do try the satay, sambal stingray(spicy!) which are delicious and finish off with an ice cold sugarcane juice.
