About me

Hi,hi. I am Philip, a technical writer who lived in Lübeck for almost 3 years now. Since I didn't grow up here, I had to discover everything myself but over time I fell in love with this city.

I learned more and more stories and found more and more beautiful spots. I was however born in Switzerland and grew up in different parts of southern Germany and I also lived in Canada and New Zealand for some little time, so settling down here in Lübeck has something to say about the quality of life this city has to offer.

Just like you, I love travelling and I have been to some amazing places in this world and that's why I also am an active couchsurfer - to meet people from all over the world and from different backgrounds. In my free time, I love to cycle, swim, play board games and cook and I also have a little garden for growing my own vegetables and woodworking projects.

Lübeck tips

1. What's your favourite historical story of your city?

Lübeck once had dozens of city gates and they all got demolished because they were not needed anymore. Even the now most famous building in Lübeck, the 'Holstentor' was almost facing the same fate.

2. Where do you get the best views of the city?

For a birdeye-view you can go up St. Petri church's tower, the 'Malerwinkel' has been the best spot for picture taking for centuries and the roof of the 'Hansemuseum' in the north of the island is also quite good.
