Annalakshmi Restaurant: Immersive Indian Cuisine (Vegetarian!!)

Why Kim recommends this restaurant

With the purpose of promoting the Indian culture, Annalakshmi Restaurant provides guests with a fully immersive experience with the decor of a traditional Indian household. This restaurant is tucked conveniently at the sleeve of the Singapore nightlife and can be easily accessed by walking from Clarke Quay MRT Station. Offering an array of delicious vegetarian food, this restaurant operates on the concept of paying as much as you wish although I recommend paying at least $10-15 for a meal with drinks. The restaurant serves relatively good authentic Indian cuisine but I think what really makes the experience is the ambience and the entire aesthetic of the restaurant that truly makes this restaurant worth visiting.

What to order?

For those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine, I would recommend the Masala Dosai - potato curry wrapped in a thin pancake. The Masala Dosai here was flavourful yet also not as strong-flavoured characteristic of Indian dishes which may not sit well with some. Along with your meal, you may want to consider ordering Vadai - a savoury doughnut- as a side dish. The Vadai here is very filling despite its size so I would recommend ordering one at each time. Lastly, a meal is not complete without dessert, and I believe that a glass of Lassi - a sweet yoghurt drink- will be able to satisfy your sweet cravings.

The menu varies and I recommend that guests ask the staff or google some of the dishes before ordering to understand what the dish will be.
